My name is Catriona Mcloughlin. I currently live in Leicester, uk – with my partner, Owen and our two children, Omi and Orion.
I have a background in psychology and mental health – with a focus on assisting people to develop feelings of inner compassion and self-acceptance. I have always been very interested in the benefits of natural health practices and am also trained in holistic therapies; enabling me to work with swedish body massage, pregnancy massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, reiki, indian head massage, hopi ear candling, hot stone therapy, thai foot massage and life coaching. In 2007 I set up my own business called Karuna Holistics; opening two treatment spaces for visiting clients, as well as providing holistic treatments in the workplace.
In 2010, I decided to follow my dream of travelling and set off on a new journey to explore traditional holistic therapies in Asia. During my two years away from home, I based myself in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital city – whilst travelling back and forth to Thailand, India and Indonesia. During my travels, I embarked on further training including traditional ayurvedic treatment and practice, yoga and traditional thai massage.
Before returning to the UK, I fell pregnant, with our first son, Omi. 6 months after returning home, he was born. This was the start of a new chapter for me. 19 months later, Orion was born and we were a family of four! Although I have continued to treat clients since returning to england, my main focus lies with my children, and motherhood has become my most important vocation.
Full time mothering is by no means easy! Every day raises new challenges and we try our best, as a family, to tackle each new day as it comes. Our life is very simply and economically. Owen is a writer and we mindfully balance work and time with our children – even if it means that we live to much smaller means. We’ve worked really hard to make our alternative choices work for us, and I’m excited to see how our future will look.
I want to welcome you to my blog. It is a space for me to share my thoughts, ideas, interests and snapshots of our family life.
Thanks for stopping by.
